A Career in Makeup Artistry is at your fingertips with our new Traineeship which will lead you into the world of media Makeup with job opportunities in Theatre, Film or TV.
With the current growth in media productions focusing on Scotland as a location for filming the interest in the background crew grows with possibilities of a variety of job prospects.
Working behind the scenes as a MUA you will need multiple skills gained from this traineeship, ranging from assisting in the MUP dept, understanding the importance of researching characters and historical periods, specialised make up effects, understanding call sheets, scripts, set etiquette and working as part of a team.
If you are creative, imaginative and a driving ambition then this could be your starting point.
The course ensures the delivery of the latest industry standards. With a wealth of experience our lecturers provide practical insights and knowledge to get you industry ready, embarking on a career as a MUA Trainee.
What will I learn?
You will learn a variety of practical skills which will be enhanced with knowledge and understanding of products, techniques and up to date methods used within the Media MUP.
You will plan, research and design Makeup looks for Film and TV using high-definition products and specialist techniques to make the actors screen ready.
You will also study:
- Continuity of Hair and Makeup
- Specialised Makeup Effects
- Hair and Barbering Maintenance for Continuity
- Styling Techniques for Hair
- Preparing and Maintenance of Postiche
What qualifications do I need?
No formal Qualificaions are required however it would be an advantage to have attained basic literacy, numeracy and ICT skills is desirable
Enthusiastic with a keen interest in media is essential.
All candidates must be 16 and over
What can I do after?
On completion sucessfully you will progress to level 6 Makeup Artistry Traineeship to gain all skills required o move into employment.
