Overview

What will I learn?

Turn your passion for gaming into real-world skills. This course gives you hands-on learning in games development, using the same industry-standard tools that professional studios rely on, including the Adobe Creative Suite, Unity and Unreal Engine.

At our Paisley campus, you'll also collaborate on an exciting live game project with local primary schools, giving you real client experience and a standout portfolio piece.

You’ll explore and build skills in:

  • Games Programming – learn the foundations of coding for games
  • Graphics for Games – design characters, environments and visual assets
  • Game Interface Design – create intuitive, player-friendly UI
  • 2D Animation – bring your designs and characters to life
  • Game Technology – understand how modern games run under the hood
  • 3D Level Editing – build immersive worlds and playable spaces

What qualifications do I need?

We welcome applications from creative, motivated learners. Normally, you’ll need one Higher at Grade C or above, ideally in Maths or Computer Science or an NQ in a computing-related subject such as NQ Games Development, NQ Software & Web Development,or NQ Cyber Security. An NPA in Computer Games Development at SCQF 5 or 6 is also helpful.

No formal qualifications? We also welcome applicants who bring relevant skills, life experience or work experience and can demonstrate genuine interest and practical ability in games design, art, or programming.

What can I do after?

With the skills and portfolio you’ll build, you’ll be ready for an entry-level role in the games or computing industry, from junior developer or QA tester to games artist or level designer.

Many students choose to continue their studies and progress onto:
