Overview

What will I learn?

J8RT 04 Internally monitor and maintain the quality of workplace assessment is the updated qualification for verifiers/moderators.  It is for those who have taken on the responsibility of supporting and monitoring the quality of workplace assessment and preparing for external verification activity.

To register for this unit, the verifier candidate will have responsibility for a minimum of two assessors, and they will undertake and provide evidence and reflection on verification activity.

This qualification is for those monitoring assessment processes and decisions within an organisation and helping to maintain and improve the quality of workplace assessment.  The internal quality assurance process being conducted by the internal verifier-candidate can be for SVQs, work-based qualifications or in-company standards. Please check your qualification assessment strategy or qualification regulations to ensure this is the correct qualification for you.

The types of activities the internal verifier-candidate will be involved in and can use as evidence, will include:

  • Preparing to carry out internal quality assurance.
  • Planning internal quality assurance.
  • Carrying out planned monitoring of the quality of assessment.
  • Providing assessors with feedback, advice and support to help them maintain and improve their assessment practice.
  • Meeting appropriate external quality assurance requirements.
To achieve this unit, the verifier-candidate is required to carry out the monitoring activities defined in their organisation’s quality assurance procedures in accordance with appropriate external quality assurance requirements.

What qualifications do I need?

No formal qualifications required. Applicants should be employed in a job role which allows them to quality assure the assessment process and be able to demonstrate occupational competencies in the area.

Applicants must have access to at least two assessors who are assessing learners following the same qualification and will require access to internal verification meetings and must have support from the Centre’s Internal Verifier.

It would be advantageous for applicants to hold an assessor's qualification.

Assessment will be conducted through the production of a portfolio cataloguing of learner's work.

What can I do after?

There are opportunities for assessors and verifiers to operate within a variety of environments where vocational programmes are provided.
