Modern Apprenticeships are an exciting way of gaining skills and qualifications, enabling people to work, learn and earn at the same time. Recognising this unique opportunity eighteen year-old Rebecca Simpson sought to gain a Modern Apprenticeship within science; a field that she had enjoyed studying at school.

In 2018 the College will utilise further funding awarded by the Digital Xtra Fund to launch an additional three coding clubs in Renfrewshire secondaries. The clubs are set to launch in January in St Andrews Academy, Gryffe High School and Gleniffer High School.

Our Paisley Campus Building Services department recently constructed two new electrical booths to simulate real life work environments for learners to practice typical electrical installation work. The booths needed finishing touches to be well presented and inviting. Building on our cross campus strength, we asked our Greenock campus Construction department if they could help.

The Big Bang is the largest celebration of STEM - science, technology, engineering and maths for young people in the UK. It brings an outstanding opportunity to show young people just how many exciting and rewarding opportunities there are out there for them with the right experience and qualifications.

Like so many involved in the bid to make Paisley UK City of Culture 2021, West College Scotland is disappointed that, in the end, the town was not nominated, despite an outstanding effort from everybody involved.
